Gozo is definitely the place to be during the Festive Season due to the many events and activities it has to offer. Below is a list of events which are being held on the island during December.
Christmas in the Square – Xewkija’s Christmas Market

The second edition of ‘Christmas in the Square’ is happening again between the 10th, 11th and 12th of December 2021. This year it will be bigger and better featuring variety of live entertainment ranging from bands to live choirs, children activities, stalls selling seasonal gifts and last but not least food and beverages stalls.
SHE

This is the story of SHE, with no beginning and no end, raising more questions than giving answers. It starts at the core, and plunges us in, drawing us to its flame like moths scorched and fluttering mesmerized. SHE depicts the mystique of femininity, inviting us to ride her endless cycle of seduction, aloofness, loss, hope, vulnerability and strength. SHE stands in all of us, a haunting celebration of contrasts coming together in Truth. Choreographed and artistically directed by Angelo Bonello.
Cirku

Cirku9Grajja – is the title of a three-concert journey over this Christmas with Schola Cantorum Jubilate (SCJ) amidst the magnificence of the National Shrine of Ta’ Pinu in Gozo. Well-known for their unique concert experiences, including Carols by Candlelight and Premju Ghall-Arti nominee Song Reborn, this year’s Cirku9Grajja promises to be yet another memorable choral event. The choir explained that each celebrates Christmas and the traditions tied to it, colouring the season with vibrant music and joyful carols while also providing opportunities for deep thinking through the verses and thoughts accompanying the music. “Our aim is to provide an unforgettable acoustic experience to both the choristers and the attendees,” explains SCJ’s Artistic Director, Stefan Attard. The first, Ċirku, will feature SCJ Soloists accompanied by the BrassTubes, with both the audience and musicians in an intimate, circular formation in a warm, Christmas setting.
Santa is Coming to Kercem

Santa is Coming to Kercem – A Christmas market where one can find various Christmas-related items. You will be spoilt for choice with many different stalls selling clothes, sweets and Christmas decorations to choose from.
Fontana Goes Festive
Date: 12th December
Time: 5.30pm
Location: Sacred Heart Parish Church Parvis
The principal aim of the first edition of this event is to raise awareness of plastic pollution and its detrimental effect on the ecosystem amongst the general public, including children. The main attraction will be a Christmas tree made from plastic bottles and other recyclable material, illuminated with LED lights. The tree will be around 10m high. Attendees will experience the joy of Christmas with live Christmas carols. Children will have the chance to take a photo with Father Christmas in his workshop, which will also be specifically constructed for this event using recyclable material.
Rejoice!
Date: 16th December

Location: St.Augustine Square Gozo
The second edition of the Christmas concert “Rejoice!” will feature season classics played with a modern flare. Three Gozitan artists will be performing: Jason Camilleri on the trumpet, Mariella Spiteri Cefai on the piano and soprano Christabelle Formosa. The concert will take place on Thursday 16th December at 7.30pm at St. Augustine’s Church, Victoria. This concert is being supported by the Cultural Heritage Directorate within the Ministry for Gozo.
Milied fl-Ghejjun

An event organised by Kummissjoni Żgħażagħ Fontana, featuring children’s choirs, local talent, kids’ area, folk music and stalls selling traditional Christmas food items. The event will be wrapped up by Cash and Band.
Disgha

Location: Ta’ Pinu National Shrine
Ċirku9Ġrajja is a series of three unique concerts in December, being held at Ta Pinu National Shrine in Gozo. The second, Disgħa, will feature the SCJ Children’s Choir and the SCJ Teenage Boys Singers. Disgħa is inspired by the British tradition of the Nine Readings and Carols and symbolizes the nine-month wait. For each reading, the audience will also have the opportunity to listen to a child’s take on the world surrounding them.
Grand Christmas Concert

Soċjetà Mużikali Santa Margerita V.M. proudly presents the seventh edition of The Grand Christmas Concert with the participation of St Margaret Band under the direction of Mro George Apap, featuring guest singers Katrina Mifsud and Eliza Stellini.
Notte Nostalgia Concert
Date: 22nd December

Location: Our Lady of Loreto Parish Church
Charles Buttigieg is returning from his studies in the USA to sing a special Christmas concert with guests and String Ensemble named ‘Notte Nostalgia e Gioiosa’ at the Our Lady of Loreto Parish Church in Għajnsielem.
Christus Natus Est
Date: 23rd December
Time: 7.30pm
Location: Knisja ta’ Sant’Antnin
A Christmas concert, organised by the Santa Ċeċilja Foundation, under the artistic direction of Mro. Antoine Mercieca featuring sopranos Frances Catherine Farrugia and Stefania Vella and Baritone Louis Andrew Cassar, accompanied by the Brass Quintet.
Grajja
Date: 28th December
Time: 7.30pm
Location: Ta’ Pinu National Shrine
Ġrajja is the third and final grand concert in Schola Cantorum Jubilate’s concert series. Schola Cantorum Jubilate, accompanied by the Cordia String Quartet will joyfully sing the Magnum Mysterium, the most magnificent story ever told, including Herod’s massacre of the innocents, which is also commemorated on this day. Join us for a wonderful evening of choral music, as the world prepares to bid adieu to yet another eventful year.
Upper Lip & Friends
Date: 30th December
Time: 9pm
Location: Mnarja Band Club Nadur
Upper Lip and Friends – A Rock concert with a festive theme amidst the end of year holidays. This concert will take place at the Mnarja Band Club in Nadur in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Directorate, Ministry for Gozo. It also features local musicians and singers with the band including Charles Attard, Daphne Azzopardi and Sarah Bonniċi.

An event for the children in occasion of the Epiphany, commencing with a mass followed by the arrival of the Three Kings where afterwards, the entire family can engage in various games and activities.
